Changing a Joomla template's header is probably the first thing you'll want to do when you get started fitting this template into your site...
To change the header preferences of the Joomla Earthblog template, login to your Joomla Joomla! Joomla administration and click on Extensions > Joomla Template Manager. Next, click on the js_earthblog link to enter the Joomla template parameters area.
The first parameter allows you to specify the Header Style -
The Header Style setting allows you to choose between a "text" or "graphic" based header.
Text Header
Selecting "text" is particularly useful if you don't have much experience using proprietary image editors such as Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks. The "text" based header will render a simple pre-styled header text over the header_blank.png background image.
Graphic Header
Selecting "graphic" will render the style{x}/header.png image which can be edited in two ways:
- Adobe Fireworks: Using the provided Joomla graphic source files in Adobe Fireworks allow you to make more extensive modifications to the entire template graphics.
- Adobe Photoshop (or other): If you don't have access to Adobe Fireworks, you can simply open style{x}/header_blank.png, add your logo or graphic, save as header.png and overwrite.
*style{x} refers to the Joomla theme style you have chosen as default (e.g. style4)
Search Engine Optimization Extras
The next parameter allows you to specify your Site Headline and Slogan -
You should enter something relevant to your site here, regardless of your header style you've chosen.
When graphic mode is chosen, the text entered is placed beneath the graphic image code but still remains in tact for search engine optimization.
When text is chosen for your header style settings, Your site name and slogan will be rendered visible on the frontend.
